(Charlottesville, VA and Boulder, CO) March 2, 2017 – Silverchair Information Systems and The Geological Society of America, Inc. (GSA) today announced a new partnership to launch a fully integrated GSA publications portal on the Silverchair Platform for GSA’s journals and eBooks.

This new partnership occurs in conjunction with GeoScienceWorld (GSW)'s newly expanded Society Services program and will be coordinated with GSW’s recently announced move to Silverchair. GSA journals and eBooks will migrate to the Silverchair Platform in June 2017.

GSA’s journals include Geology, the #1 journal in the Web of Science’s “geology” category for nine years in a row, as well as GSA Bulletin, Geosphere, and Lithosphere. In addition to hosting all years of these highly requested GSA journals, GSA will add 742 eBooks from its Special Papers and Memoirs series to the 184 GSA eBooks currently hosted as part of the GeoScienceWorld eBook Collections. All publications will be available through GSA and through GSW.

“The Geological Society of America is poised to advance its services to society members, institutional customers, and public users on the Silverchair Platform,” said Thane Kerner, Silverchair CEO. “By building atop the new infrastructure and tools being created for GSW, GSA will further increase the dissemination of its premier geoscience publications, increasing its value to authors, members, and the geosciences profession.”

“Having all of our publications available in one location will reduce costs, simplify access, and broaden our reach,” said Vicki McConnell, GSA executive director. “The Silverchair Platform offers distinctive designs that maximize content discoverability and ensure a streamlined experience for our readers and subscribers.”
