(Charlottesville, VA and Denver, CO) June 14, 2018 – Silverchair Information Systems (Silverchair) and the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) announced today the launch of AORN’s acclaimed perioperative nursing clinical practice resources in the AORN Facility Reference Center on the Silverchair Platform.

AORN defines and advances nursing best practices for surgical patient care by researching, authoring, and distributing evidence-based guidelines. These resources, now available in the AORN Facility Reference Center on the Silverchair Platform, include AORN’s flagship publication, Guidelines for Perioperative Practice, an indispensable reference for evidence-based practice and education that establishes the standards of excellence in the delivery of perioperative nursing care. This content features a custom expand / collapse nested navigation to help surgical team members and administrators target the exact guideline or recommendation they need for a particular scenario.

The AORN Facility Reference Center also includes a suite of supplementary content such as FAQs and tools, evidence tables, Guideline Quick Views, and “At a Glance” materials on Procedures, Positioning, and Skin Prep – delivering valuable educational resources and time-sensitive information on critical topics in perioperative nursing.

Combined with the Guidelines, AORN now offers the next generation of digitally native tools for the perioperative workflow. The site features a powerful search engine to help users quickly hone in on the content they seek. The site is also designed with a mobile-first approach, making it fully usable on tablets and other mobile devices.

“AORN is intently focused on upgrading the dissemination of perioperative expertise across the profession, and we are thrilled to provide them the technology, stability, and strategy they need in a long-term partnership,” said Thane Kerner, Silverchair CEO. “On the Silverchair Platform, AORN is equipped to offer perioperative nurses and educators flexible and novel methods for discovery, collaboration, and distribution.”

“AORN anticipates improved perioperative care and patient outcomes via a reimagining of the Guidelines and Guideline Essentials into a single unified, discoverable, easy-to-use site,” said AORN’s Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Linda Groah MSN, RN, CNOR, NEA-BC, FAAN. “We are excited to be launching this partnership with Silverchair and view its platform as the ideal foundation for this effort.”
